the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton

pay homage to the region’s rich heritage. Job Summary: The 2nd
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the golf
course superintendent and 1st Assistant superintendent. Under the
Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent’s supervision, the
2nd Assistant Superintendent supports in the management the health
and playing condition of the golf course greens, tees, fairways,
roughs, cart paths, trees, native areas, etc. The 2nd Assistant
Superintendent helps to plan and prioritize work schedules,
maintains accurate records, trains, and develops the staff and
communicates well within the golf management department and club.

Functions: Job duties include, although are not limited to: Assists
in planning and supervising of the management of all golf course
related areas. (greens, tees, fairways, roughs, range, etc.)
Develop, train, and supervise staff to perform all related golf
course management functions and use of the equipment. Participates
in the operation and management of pump, irrigation, and drainage
systems. Scouts the golf course for potential problems (disease,
insects, irrigation needs, mowing needs, etc.) and reports findings
to the Golf Course Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent.
Maintains weather and environmental records Assist in communication
of equipment scheduling and organization of shop facilities Assist
in writing daily schedule and reviews weekly schedule with
Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent for changes or
updates Supervises and/or operates pesticide/fertilizer
applications and calibration of equipment Supervises and/or
participates in projects Assist in personnel management and
evaluation, employee safety, personnel discipline and may also
modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation
Actively manages details on the course including turf health,
playing conditions, and native areas Participates in Club
leadership activities and events Qualification: Bachelor of Science
degree in agronomy/plant/soil sciences desired, or equivalent
knowledge and experience, which may include a turf certificate or
Associate Degree in Turfgrass Science offered by some universities
Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide
applicator Familiarity with and knowledge of the game of golf
Developing knowledge of: Construction, turf establishment, and
cultural practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees,
fairways, roughs, and bunkers Planting and culture of the turfgrass
used on golf courses Proper use of fertilizers and soil
conditioners Pest diagnosis and control methods, including
materials Drainage systems Watering practices and irrigation
systems Equipment operation, service, and repair Computer
applications and operation Ability to schedule and supervise work
to achieve the most efficient use of employees and resources
Effectively communicate with all staff, members, vendors,
architects, owners, consultants, and fellow professionals Physical
Requirements: Majority of tasks are performed outdoors in variable
weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and rainy.
Temperatures can be extreme but are usually moderate. Frequently
works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of
the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands,
bend, and stoop, remain at post standing for periods of time, walk
for a long distance, and is required to lift and/or move up to 50
pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color
and peripheral. Due to the busy nature of the position the
associate must be able to routinely work well under pressure,
remain calm, and be tactful with co-workers. Palmetto Bluff is
