(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is
available to support elementary-aged students in a Virginia Beach
area school district. This contract assignment runs from January 5,
2026, through June 16, 2026, with the possibility of renewal for
the 20262027 school year. The role requires in-person presence five
days per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,
serving students across one or multiple elementary schools as
assigned. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate effective communication
between Deaf or hard-of-hearing elementary students and their
teachers, peers, and support staff through American Sign Language
interpretation. Provide interpreting services that comply with
educational standards and student Individualized Education Programs
(IEPs). Collaborate with educators and support teams to ensure
access to the curriculum and participation in school activities.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications and Experience: Proven experience as a Sign Language
Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting. Must hold
Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III
certification. A minimum EIPA score of 3.0 will be considered, with
a strong preference for candidates scoring 3.5 or higher;
alternatively, a Quality Assurance Screening score of 3 or better
is acceptable. Ability to commit to full-time hours (30 hours per
week) during the contract period. Experience working with
elementary-age students is highly desirable. Location: Position is
located within the Virginia Beach area, serving schools in a nearby
