Description:
You are a skilled Network Operations Technician with over 5 years'
experience working in telecommunications and utilizing your
technical background to work on restoration activities,
preventative maintenance, and installation. Your emphasis on
building trust with clients and providing a best-in-class approach
to customer service will be the foundation for success. You will
perform installation, repair, configuration, break fix and testing
of moves, additions, changes and disconnects (MACD) on various
Fujitsu, Calix, Juniper, and similar products to support customer
optical voice and data services. Additionally, you will test
circuits using optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR), conduct
RFC testing and provide emergency circuit restoration services.As a
Network Operations Technician you will be part of a fast-paced
customer focused culture that provides the opportunity to work in a
self-managed work environment, by performing installations and
repairs of telecommunications services.Essential
Responsibilities:Provide high level customer service, ensuring that
any escalations or concerns are addressed professionallyDrive to
and from manned and unmanned customer locations in a defined
geographic area performing installation, repair and emergency break
fix restoration of optical transport equipment, fiber cabling, rack
mounted routers/switches/firewalls, demarcation extensions,
etc.Receive and complete work orders from a centralized dispatch
center ensuring that routes are efficient, and that service is
delivered in a timely mannerWorks cooperatively with wide range of
teams including NOC, Customer and Technical Care Centers,
engineering, operations, purchasing, among othersTroubleshoot
technical issues such as cable runs, swap out cards, install data
circuits for internet connectionsMonitors and maintains
environmental systems including but not limited to all power
systems (UPS, generator, distribution) and air conditioningTrace
and locate appropriate telecommunications links, which could
involve working in confined spaces and climbing laddersCreates and
or maintain as built drawings (documentation) outlining what is
installed within the facility and or individual rackMaintain
required logs, records, and other documentation in compliance with
company and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) technical
requirementsWork duties are performed both inside and outside of
maintained buildings and propertySome late-night work to help in
cut overs and locating troubled cablesEnsure vehicle, test
equipment and tools are maintained in excellent condition
Requirements:
QualificationsFive plus years of previous experience in
telecommunications, business installation and service for
electronics and optical appliances, security, cablingDegree or
diploma from a technical college an assetStrong MS Office skills in
Word & ExcelA positive, "can-do" attitude and customer focused
approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations
with integrity, empathy, and sincerityPrevious experience working
in the field independently and thriving in a fast-paced
environment; self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize
workloads with little directionAbility to manage a physically
demanding position which involves sitting, standing, bending,
lifting, working at heights and in confined spacesStrong
communication skills, both written and verbalSelf-Motivated and
able to prioritize and organize workloads with little directionMust
have and maintain a valid state driver's licenseWork
