Flight Crew Operations Engineer (Mid-level & Senior) Company:
The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for
a Flight Deck Crew Operations Engineer (Mid-level or Senior) at our
North Charleston, South Carolina site. Come join the team that

Flight Decks for Boeing Commercial Airplanes! At any given moment,
tens of thousands of Flight Crews around the world are operating
and working in the Flight Decks of Boeing-designed airplanes. We
are tasked with ensuring that today's designs receive world class
support and new and future designs are loved by pilots, advance
aviation safety, and improve operational efficiency. The flight
decks that you design will be used for decades to come and connect
the entire globe. In Flight Deck, you will define the look and feel
of the interface for the pilots. You will be responsible for that
design from conception to the end of its service life. Come join a

flight crews operate our airplanes and what their needs, tasks, and
constraints are. In this role, you will work closely with pilots
from all over the world to deliver industry leading flight decks. A
flight deck engineer can have a focus area which may include:
airplane system functions (hydraulics, electrical, flight controls,
etc.) display formats, menus and control interfaces; display
hardware; flight management system; instrument panel layouts, crew
alerting, electronic flight bag; crew personal electronic devices,
failure effects and analysis; navigation; communication equipment;
crew procedures, crew training, human factors/cognition; and
ergonomic analysis. Engineers in this position will work alongside
other engineers in solving problems and serve as a leader of a
small team of engineers providing technical and work statement
guidance. The successful Flight Deck team member will have a
passion for aviation and enjoy working with a team of pilots,
engineers, and customers who share the same passion. Position
Responsibilities: Designs, tests, and certifies the look, feel, and
operational behavior of the flight deck, from the early conceptual
phase, to supporting airplanes after entry into service.
Establishes design requirements for changes and enhancements to the
flight crew interface on existing or new commercial airplane
models, testing, and implementing those enhancements. Supports
product development efforts to identify technologies to increase
aviation safety and add value to our products or services. Uses an
interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, develop, verify,
and validate requirements. Participates or leads design teams, as
well as collaborate with avionics, other engineering groups,
customer airline personnel, industry, regulators, and suppliers.
Works closely with a wide variety of pilot’s disciplines including
flight test, technical and procedural, training, customer airline,
and regulator pilots. Prototypes cockpit layouts using commercial
and company-unique computing tools, and validate design
requirements and flight deck design philosophies during test
programs using analysis, flight deck simulators, and flight test
airplanes. Ensures practical application of Boeing Flight Deck and
human factors design principles, commonality and integration with
other mission objectives. Basic Qualifications (Required
Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering,
Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US
equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. 5
or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination
of education and experience (Mid-level). 4 years of experience in
the aerospace engineering industry. Some travel may be required,
either domestic or international. Frequent travel to other local
Puget Sound sites is required. Preferred Qualifications (Desired
Skills/Experience): Experience building positive relationships,
collaborating effectively, and communicating clearly. Pilots
license. Flight test experience. Human Factors experience. Flight
operations experience. 9 or more years’ related work experience or
an equivalent combination of education and experience (Senior).

Summary pay range for Mid Level (Level 3): $112,200 - $185,150
Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $136,850 - $185,150
