Reporting to the Vice President for Marketing and Communications, the successful candidate is a critical leader within the University---s marketing and communications team as well as a key element of the university---s initiative to increase enrollment. The director must be a strategic thinker who can translate a big picture marketing vision to implementable operational plans. The incumbent is a dot-connector who must understand how all marketing efforts can work together to build the university---s brand and advance goals. The successful candidate: Oversees, implements and analyzes strategic marketing efforts and marketing plans for the team with a heavy emphasis on digital marketing activities. Oversees and coordinates the conception, creation and implementation of marketing content directed at relevant audiences. Interfaces with internal and external resources to execute marketing campaigns and provides strategic direction/oversight. Is a key member of the team that implements strategic marketing and communication plans to support recruitment, enrollment and retention. Coordinates strategic investment of marketing dollars in campaigns and third party partnerships and evaluates return on investment. Creates a dynamic and innovative user experience for key audiences. Leverages analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and make continual improvements. Is an Idea generator with strong creative problem-solving skills, excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail. Manages work of two communications professionals, including interviewing, selecting and training of employees; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of evaluation performance; and handling staff and program-partner concerns and taking corrective action when necessary. Manage and coordinate the implementation of integrated marketing strategies and campaigns for Savannah State meet or exceed defined campaign goals and key performance indicators. Conduct market research, including competitive bench-marking and higher education marketing best practices, and analyze campaign/program/service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, audience segmentation and campaign targeting. Develop metrics for and measure the effectiveness of website and digital campaigns including return on investment. Engage in regular audits to validate marketing materials, messages and placements for quality and accuracy. Monitor all digital marketing activity. Oversee website and social media content for Savannah State University including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and other potential social media platforms. Participate in social media asset creation and promotion as needed. Monitor and report on paid and organic social media analytics. Develop and implement strategy for the use of social media in marketing programs and support campaign maintenance. Design, develop, deliver web content and collateral to coordinate with marketing campaign efforts. Enhance and update website to maximize user experience and interaction with Savannah State University. Proactively optimize web pages for quality, brand compliance, accessibility, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and digital marketing best practices. Meet regularly with campus partners to report success and areas for improvement within each campaign. Prepare regular campaign performance reports to share with campus program partners and internal stakeholders. Utilize project management software to support project assignment, staff resource allocation, project tracking and prioritization. Collaborate closely and proactively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, on all aspects of projects. Determine which marketing activities might be outsourced and collaboratively coordinate the selection of vendors. Coordinate and collaborate with paid search and SEO vendors on lead generation efforts, working to find new sources and methods for enhancing lead generation efforts. Manage all advertising placements, including print, online, broadcast and outdoor advertising, implementing a cost effective strategy that reaches target populations. Successfully develop and maintain positive, collaborative, respect-based relationships with employees, coworkers, customers, and stakeholders within and outside of Savannah State University. The incumbent may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor---s Degree in marketing, communications, business, management, advertising, or related field. A minimum of five (5) years of work related experience in marketing, communications, business, management, advertising, or related field. Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills involving multi-faceted initiatives, with a demonstrated ability to successfully meet deadlines and strategy goals. Experience in using web-based tools and technologies such as Google Analytics, other media analytics, MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc. Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, UI/UX best practices. Demonstrated success in SEM, SEO and digital content marketing Working knowledge of branding development and standards, style guidelines, digital and print collateral requirements, and related processes. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs), Adobe Acrobat, and other business tools and systems in a PC environment. Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, and networking skills that show the ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of participants, partners, and audiences. Experience with photography and videography. Strong collaborative working style with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a flexible, dynamic environment, and to contribute to a positive work environment that values respect, listening and learning. Extensive experience managing and implementing omni-channel marketing campaigns that meet or exceeded stated measurable goals. Understanding of traditional and new media channels, analytics and strategic outcomes and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies. Extensive experience with social media marketing; strong understanding of social media platforms, etiquette and best practices. Deep understanding and experience about brand expression and experience as well as how to bring a brand to life through strategic marketing campaigns. Proven success in developing and implementing integrated marketing plans. Ability to conceptualize, write and edit strategic, accurate and concise content for university audiences. Able to connect data points across multiple campaigns to drive an enterprise-level approach to strategic marketing. Desire to continually seek out and use necessary and relevant data to ensure strategies, tactics, refinements and assessments are as informed as possible. Experience analyzing information and trends and conveying relevant results and evolving strategy over time. Able to oversee and execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities. Manages stressful situations in a solution oriented way with a positive attitude. Functions effectively, both independently and as a member of a team, with a willingness to assist with routine and last minute projects. Self-directed and imaginative in accomplishing objectives though tested methods but also demonstrating a willingness to innovate and take new approaches that make sense in the ever-changing marketing and communications landscapes. Able to assimilate and organize material and ideas to communicate them effectively, with professionalism and integrity, in a variety of forms. Able to successfully develop and maintain positive, collaborative, respect-based relationships with coworkers, customers and stakeholders inside and outside of the University, including senior executive and administrative staff, deans, faculty, students, media representatives, vendors and other employees. Willing to take direction, remain open and amenable to instruction and quickly acquire/learn/share new knowledge/skills as needed. Possesses social perceptiveness and orientation to facilitate diverse, inclusive and culturally sensitive working and learning environments to serve global audiences. Preferred Qualifications Master---s degree or equivalent, preferably in specific fields, including marketing, communications, business administration, advertising, or closely related field, or the equivalent in applied work experience. Two (2) plus years of experience in a higher education-centered marketing role. Two (2) plus years of experience managing digital marketing campaigns. Two (2) plus years of professional experience using social media platforms to promote education or business, target audiences and generate leads. Two (2) plus years of demonstrated success in managing staff and leading teams to meet complex goals and numerous deadlines. Two (2) plus years working in the content management platforms. Two (2) plus years of regular use of Adobe Creative Cloud products including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
