Job Description:

As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below. Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Manages the Purchasing Agents, and other staff as needed.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Responsible for performance management to include coaching, training and development, etc.
  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
  • Prepares and presents market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
  • Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
  • Acts as the company s representative in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Administers the departmental budget.
  • Stays current with purchasing technology trends and oversees purchase and implementation, as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains SOP s/ Procedures.
  • Maintains individual and department goals and completes projects in a timely fashion
  • Participates in the company s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Bachelor s Degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration preferred with 10-15 years of experience or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership experience (minimum 5 years) with the ability to effectively train others.
    • Experience using procurement software and databases.
    • Supervisory experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Understanding of business and management principles.
    • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure.
    • Ability to work, interact and effectively communicate with all company officials, employees, vendors, customers, etc.
    • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
    • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work with our Permission to Play Values. Physical Requirements:
      • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
      • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
      • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
      • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
