SCAD-Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking a Director of Public Relations, Entertainment Arts to be based at their Savannah, GA campus. SCAD is making a major investment in their Public Relations department and is building out a team focused on the promotion of their world-class degree programs. In addition to aDirector of PR, Entertainment Arts, we are also seeking a Director of PR, Building Arts; Director of PR, Fashion; Director of PR, Fine Arts and Director of PR, University PR.POSITION SUMMARY:The director of public relations develops and executes effective public relations initiatives in line with the universitys mission. This position must be creative and flexible, with a comprehensive understanding of the universitys goals. The director develops public relations plans that involve local, regional and national media press.REQUIREMENTS:B.A. Degree from an accredited, four-year university5-7 years of public relations experiencePublic relations experience with fashion, entertainment, architecture, design, and/or historic preservation preferred.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the promotion of the students, alumni, faculty, administration and associated events for the select schools within the university and associated signature events. Promotion entails not only announcements of awards, recognition, partnerships, events and conferences, but also the development of trend stories and special initiatives that will bring recognition to the university and actively advance the universitys mission. Responsible for writing press materials, pulling media lists and assembling press clippings. Responsible for creating media plans for specificSCAD signature events to include key messaging, spokespeople, Q&A, press bios, and talking points. Maintain the coverage reporting services as point of contact and training new employees, including but not limited to ReadMedia and Vocus services. Assists with server organization and cataloging in addition to magazine library maintenance. Assists to manage any temporary employees (interns and administrative). Oversees and manages interviews and small press events. Assists in developing special initiatives that will bring recognition to the university and actively advance the universitys mission. Send out hometown news releases regarding student and alumni success. Works and communicates frequently with SCADs larger communications branch, such as the visual media department, photography department, interactive and social media department, and communications managers. Creates detailed talking points and prep materials for all interviews and/or events that are press related. Works with physical resources to prepare facilities with accommodations for all interviews, photography and videography. Responds to all media requests and correspondence in a timely and effective manner. Assists and maintains database of award applications for departmentsSCAD-wide. PitchesSCADprofiles and events to local and regional media. Works and communicates frequently and fluidly with SCADs larger communications branch, such as the visual media department, photography department, interactive and social media department, and communications managers. Works closely with other PR directors to develop larger trend stories about the university-at-large. Works with identified spokespeople to ensure that they are trained to handle media relations. Briefs spokespeople as situations arise. Develops and maintains new initiatives to further strong relationships betweenSCADand the publications the university targets for placement.Duties may vary and other duties may be assigned.WORK HOURSThe university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate the university's business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.Chaloner has partnered with Savannah College of Art and Design on this search.
