We are looking for a dedicated Lab Supervisor like you to be a part
of our team.Job Summary and QualificationsThe Laboratory Technical
Supervisor assists Manager and Administrative Director of the
department with the day to day operations of the hematology
section/department which includes: managing personnel, maintain
consistent staffing levels, developing and monitoring daily quality
control, quality assurance and proficiency testing programs;
developing and evaluating laboratory methodologies, protocols and
techniques; overseeing care, maintenance, and utilization of
department equipment, supplies, and inventories. Performs clinical
testing as needed. Prepares and develops department for accrediting
agency inspections. Essential Job Functions: 1. Supports Managers
and Administrative Director in personnel activities that may
include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training,
staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance
(conducts annual feedbacks), making recommendations for personnel
actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is
responsible for their employee's output and conduct. 2. Understands
laboratory methods, demonstrates knowledge of pathological
processes with correlation of disease states and test results.
Independently performs specimen processing and testing to include
moderate and high complexity testing (as appropriate per facility).
Satisfactorily completes competency checklist for this position.
May administer quality control and calibration of instrumentation
where applicable. 3. Assures compliance with regulatory Federal,
State and accrediting agencies; understands and applies CQI
principles; anticipates needs and develops, implements, and
evaluates quality assurance programs, provides corrective action
and documentation. 4. Develops and evaluates laboratory
methodologies, procedures and techniques in the area of clinical
specialty Histopathology. 5. Acts as a resource to customers, both
within the department and outside the department, on testing
methods and procedures, and laboratory operations, safety and
training. Functions as laboratory liaison and contact person in the
absence of other management personnel. 6. Oversees ordering, care,
maintenance and utilization of department equipment, supplies, and
inventories. Additional Job Functions 1. Manages special projects
to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources,
setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress,
and completing project within established time limits. 2. Develops,
implements, evaluates programs for section/department orientation,
competency and training; validates competency of co-workers or
subordinates. 3. Attends Leadership Skills courses; puts new
knowledge, understanding, or skill to practical use on the job;
furthers learning by using newly acquired knowledge or skills to
use on a consistent basis. 4. Supports the mission and vision of
the Memorial Health University Health System and demonstrates
excellent customer service at all times. 5. Understands and is
committed to helping the Memorial Health University Health System
and its associated facilities achieve its goals under the MHUHS
Financial Performance Plan. 6. Must learn, comply with, and enforce
System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate
safety equipment and procedures at all times; must report all
unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety
features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job
duties. 7. Adheres to the MHUHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates
ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the
community. Understands the personal obligation to report any
activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations
or the Code of Conduct itself. 8. Completes other duties as
assigned. 9. Interacts regularly with Pathologists/ Medical Lab
Director regarding cases
What qualifications you will need:REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
(Required licenses, certificates, specific skills, personal traits,
e.g., RN, Certification: MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), MT (AAB), CLS (NCA),
HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP), or MT(HEW) (Please note that MLS (Medical
Laboratory Scientist), CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) and MT
(Medical Technologist) are all equal.)This role requires you to be
fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal
law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is
approved)
