Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of recent MedSurg
experience required, with at least 1 previous travel assignment
strongly preferred. License: Yes Certifications: BLS Must-Have:
MedSurg skills checklist Description: Unit sees a wide variety of
MedSurg patients, including those with sickle cell, heart failure,
vascular issues, pulmonary concerns, diabetes, and failure to
thrive. Nurse patient ratios are 5-6 to 1. Charge nurse does take
an assignment. There are nurse aides on this unit with a ratio of
12 to 1. Required equipment includes nasal cannulas, face masks,
and BiPAP. There is a weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per
12 weeks. Weekend shifts may or may not be scheduled together.
Holiday work is required. There is no call or standby requirement.
There are no floating requirements. Navy scrubs are required.
Unit/department-specific orientation includes a one-day computer
skills session with a basic knowledge assessment test, followed by
two shifts of orientation with a preceptor. Charting system used is
MEDITECH - 6.1. Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS BLS
