of Surgery at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in
Charleston, SC is seeking a full-time faculty member. Applicants
must be board eligible/certified in Surgery and have completed a
Surgical Critical Care/Burn fellowship. Please visit

the department. Job Description The Medical University of South
Carolina (MUSC) Department of Surgery is seeking a board
certified/board eligible Burn Surgeon interested in an Academic
Surgery. Expertise in pediatric burn care is strongly preferred.
Expertise in laser scar revision and burn scar reconstruction is
also preferred. The South Carolina Burn Center is the only
inpatient burn center in the state of South Carolina. Recently
verified by the American Burn Association for both adults and
pediatric burns, it has 25 total beds with nine more being added.
MUSC is a level one trauma center serving the “Low Country” of
South Carolina, population of over 900,000 people, and we are an
American College of Surgeons Verified Level I Trauma Center. The
Division of Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, SCC, and Burns has fully
accredited programs for general surgery residency training,
surgical critical care fellowship, and a burn fellowship. Qualified
candidates must demonstrate an interest in research, graduate, and
undergraduate education. Required qualifications include successful
completion of an approved General Surgery residency program and
board eligibility or certification in Surgical Critical Care.
Applicants must also have completed a burn fellowship. Plastic
surgery trained candidates with burn and surgical critical care
fellowship training will also be considered. Additional Job
Description Physical Requirements: (Note: The following
descriptions are applicable to this section: Continuous - 6-8 hours
per shift; Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift; Infrequent - 0-2 hours
per shift) Ability to perform job functions in an upright position.

all directions. (Frequent) Possess good finger dexterity.
(Continuous) Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
(Continuous) Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs., unassisted.
(Infrequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor
level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to
lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor
level, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to
15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision,
corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to
see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see
and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to
determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
(Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)
Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous)
Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor
