OverviewThe TMX Finance Family of Companies (the "Company") is currently seeking a Staff Attorney ("Staff Attorney") to manage litigation matters, review contracts, and perform various other legal tasks, such as legal research. Reporting to the Managing Counsel, the Staff Attorney will work with a talented and sophisticated group of legal professionals to assist with litigation matters and contracts. The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize deadlines, to execute multiple legal tasks, drive strategic and aggressive litigation strategies, and consider business impacts when reviewing contracts. The Staff Attorney must be a self-starter and work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Some travel (domestic) may be required. The position is based in Savannah, GA.Essential Responsibilities * Manage certain litigation matters including coordinating and directing case strategy, drafting/editing pleadings, discovery, interviewing and preparing witnesses for depositions and trial, and negotiating settlements.* Review of business/commercial contracts, particularly vendor contracts. * Manage outside counsel in relation to certain legal matters and associated spend.* Assist Managing Counsel in administration of various litigation and corporate matters, discovery projects, document review, and legal research.* Direct and oversee a team of paralegals and other sophisticated staff in responding to attorney letters and customer complaints. * Responsible for identifying, assessing and pursuing claims and affirmative recoveries.* Provide legal research on a variety of issues including compliance and regulatory matters.* Assist legal management in the development of policies and procedures to mitigate corporate risk* Support the Managing Counsel and Sr. Director of Strategic Legal Operations, as needed. Minimum Qualifications* 2 to 4 years relevant legal experience * Membership in good standing in at least one state bar in U.S. required (GA preferred)* Litigation experience required* Experience reviewing contracts a plus* Proficient with legal research databases, such as Westlaw* Ability to research in a thorough and effective manner* Impeccable, clear, and concise communication, both written and verbal, required* Strong attention to detail* Strong factual and legal analytical abilities* Some knowledge of business operations a plus* Ability to interact effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds and skill levels* Comfortable with aggressive and proactive legal strategies* Ability to maintain confidentiality* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and be computer literate* Work in a collegial, fast paced, environment* Willing to learn and grow by being a self-starter and accepting constructive feedback from anyone who offers such feedback* Sense of humor required* Desire to be part of a fun loving, hardworking, fast paced team of legal professionals who enjoy working with each other The Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Due to the volume of resumes we receive, please be advised that only those candidates that we are interested in pursuing for an interview will be contacted.
