As a Legal Projects Specialist, you would be part of a sharp, dedicated, and proactive team that provides guidance in interpreting the laws and regulations that govern our industry. Our legal team members always stay up-to-date on areas of the law that could impact our organization, and work daily to mitigate any potential or actual risks. You would provide support to various members of the Department, including the SVP/General Counsel and the VP/Associate General Counsel as well as other members of the legal department (collectively the "Legal Team"). Overall, the Legal Team is involved in many areas including compliance, litigation, corporate initiatives, and others, allowing it to provide the proper counsel for Company executives on business problems and solutions.

Responsibilities

Primary point of Contact for various ad hoc requests coming to the Legal team including but not limited to, documentation needed for Annual Reports, State Exams, Litigation Reports, assistance with Disaster Response Protocol, etc., ensuring accuracy and deadlines are timely met.

Strategize resolutions across all platforms of litigation, complaints, regulatory challenges, field issues, and other issues brought to the Legal Department for optimal resolution.

Provide Guidance on a wide variety of questions/issues from field employees and provide legal support needed to field employees and over 1000+ store locations, by handling investigations and responding to customer and product-related issues, professionally interacting with all levels of Company professionals, including outside counsel.

Prepare strategic responses to customer or attorney facing correspondence, and/or from the State and from other regulatory authorities.

Manage insurance process for incoming demands triggering notice requirements, ensuring notices are delivered promptly and acknowledged and handling coverage issues.

Handle significant litigation workload by participating in group strategy discussions, reviewing drafts, tracking and ensuring deadlines are timely met, researching, and providing additional case management support as needed by the SVP & General Counsel and VP & Associate General Counsel, as well as other members of the Legal Team.

Oversee third party document and information requests including third party subpoenas (including invoicing and tracking payments for the same), written responses to discovery requests, as well as management of litigation calendars and maintenance of legal files.

*In all responsibilities, represent the Legal Department in a professional, courteous and positive manner while utilizing strong interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with customers, business partners, and team members at all levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree OR the equivalent combination of formal education, training, and/or related experience
• 2-4 years of experience working as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, Case Manager or similar type role with some litigation experience is desired
• Ability to think strategically, work independently, and identify areas of improvement and propose solutions
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism and skill working in a team environment and coordinating workloads
• Ability to multi-task and consistently meet aggressive and time-sensitive deadlines
• Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance is required for this position. A full-time work schedule for this position includes, at a minimum, 40-hours per week, possibly more depending on work demands and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail
• Expertise in Word, Outlook and Excel required
• Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard.
  
  Bonus qualifications:
• Consumer Finance regulatory experience
• Exposure to litigation
• Previous corporate legal department experience and/or experience working with 3 rd party insurance carrier
• Paralegal and/or Case Management experience a huge plus to be successful in this positon
