Are you looking to make a change in your career? If so, Georgia-Pacific has an immediate need for a self-motivated and knowledgeable Process Control Technician at our Gypsum facility in Savannah, GA. This position works closely with the process controls / automation engineers and other key members of the reliability and operations groups in the plant.

Our Technicians work occasional on-call hours, and overtime as needed. Earn competitive pay & benefits, with opportunities for bonuses up to 5%, payable at 6 months and 1 year; with additional opportunities for variable incentives based on plant and individual performance.What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Supporting operations throughout the mill as needed, through process control systems application and general process troubleshooting
  • Assisting with design, implementation, continuous improvement, and sustainability support for existing and new process control systems applications
  • Providing automation installation and troubleshooting support for maintenance and capital projects
  • Assisting with root cause analysis investigations on major systems or process interruptions
  • Communicating and working with various operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering personnel in a team environment while also being self-motivated to accomplish individual goals
  • Developing process control modifications that lead to improvements in safety and efficiency, while reducing costs
  • Identifying asset improvement opportunities that will strengthen Georgia-Pacific's competitive advantage
  • Providing feedback/input on equipment conditions, potential failure risks, corrections and additions to systems
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLC's, process controls, electrical and instruments
  • Performing emergency maintenance on failed equipment to ensure minimal production downtime
  • Calibrating, configuring, and repairing of measurement/controls instruments flow, level, pressure, and temperature, including associated valves and valve actuators
  • Adhering to all OSHA and National Electrical Safety Code regulations and procedures
  • Replacing and repairing parts, rewire, install related instrument/electrical items including conduit and/or wiring
  • Informing management of any instrument/electrical parts needed and assisting with maintaining the required instrument/electronic/electrical parts inventories
  • Supporting efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaptation, and correction of process bottlenecks
  • Fulfilling work orders and documenting the time, tasks and parts/supplies needed to complete the projectThe Experience You Will BringRequirements:
    • Experience in an industrial electrical, or instrumentation field
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Two (2) year Maintenance Electrician program degree or Two (2) year technical degree or higher in industrial electrical maintenance or a related field OR Five (5) years or more of experience in an industrial electrical, electronic, and mechanical systemsWhat Will Put You Ahead
      • Experience working with Allen Bradley Communication protocols (Device Net, Control Net, Ethernet IP).
      • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining equipment such as Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's)
      • Experience Working with SCADA/DCS systems (IFIX, Wonderware)
      • Knowledge of industrial test equipment (Hart Communicator, Multimeter, signal generators, etc) with troubleshooting and electrical skills
      • Experience interpreting process, instrumentation and electrical drawings
      • Experience troubleshooting process equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc)
