The position conducts or assists in conducting individual and group counseling sessions and programs. Counselors learn, use, and model principles of the "What Works" system through evidence-based practices in all interactions with participants and other staff members. Counselors will not have a caseload that exceeds twenty-five (25) offenders.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Implements, coordinates, and conducts a substance abuse counseling program for chemically dependent inmates. Monitors service delivery for caseload of program participants from intake to discharge. Provides therapeutic services within the scope of local certification, licensure, and credentialing authorities and in accordance with contract assurances and prohibitions. Responsible for caseload counseling of assigned participants, including individual and group counseling. Responsible for maintenance of case records in accordance with appropriate department, state, and federal standards. Clinical documentation shall include, but is not limited to; Psychosocial Assessments, Case Notes, Individual Service Plans, Relapse Prevention Plans, Continuum of Care Plans, Discharge Summaries. Participates in case diagnostic and technical staff conferences concerning the chemically dependent inmate as well as participating in classification hearings. Ensures secure storage of participants' records. Prepares and submits all reports, as requested, to the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor. Participates in staff training pertinent to substance abuse addiction. Assists with the development and enforcement of site policies and procedures. Reviews all transition related material (Individual Service Plan, Relapse Prevention Plan, Continuum of Care Plan, Discharge Summary) prior to participants' release. Develops personal weekly schedules meeting participants' needs and reporting requirements. Performs other duties as assigned by the GDC, GEO State Office, and Corporate Office.Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a helping profession. Acceptable certifications include: Certified Addiction Counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselor's Association (GACA); Certified Addiction Counselor from the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC); Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor from the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC); and certification as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS). Acceptable licensure includes: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) Must meet the security requirements for admission to the institution. Knowledge of and compliance with applicable ethical and professional standards of conduct. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required-including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
