Job Description:

Optim Health System is seeking a full time Claims Specialist for our Savannah location.Job Requirements:Assists by posting and processing all charges for a patient visit in the patient accounting system accurately.Work as a liaison between coding, medical records and billing to ensure accurate processing and charge capture.Communicates delays and missing items to management and staff.Properly sorts, distributes and handles patient account correspondence.Identifies delinquent accounts for follow-up and successfully manages the assigned inventory for prompt and accurate follow-up.Performs collection actions including contacting patients by telephone, resubmitting claims to third party reimbursers, drafting appeals for reconsideration and estimating reimbursement by third-party payers.Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.Answers patient calls and documents how the patient was helped in the collection module and prints. (These notes should be kept separate from the Aging report notes).Demonstrates proficiency in documenting and utilizing the patient accounting system for follow-up, billing, posting, adjusting and moving claims.Rebills, prints, faxes and mails claims to insurance companies on appropriate accounts and change responsibility to the patient.Assists other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits. Functions as a relief for other personnel in the office, as appropriate and to facilitate co-workers' taking of time off.Adds accounts to collection module bi-weekly.Performs other work duties and assignments as required.
