Job Description:
SUMMARY
- This position is responsible for assisting with machine
operations that performs one or more packaging functions such as
filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing, stacking or
wrapping containers and maintaining the operation of the different
packaging lines.FUNCTIONS Primary Responsibilities/Essential
FunctionsSafety
--- - Know and observe Plant Safety work procedures and rules,
Environmental Practices and GMP guidelines.
--- - Maintains packaging line at acceptable levels of safety and
housekeeping.
--- - Shutdown packaging lines if there is an unacceptable Safety
risk.
--- - Report all safety issues and recommendations to
supervision.
--- - Understand and follow proper procedures for all Lockout - Tag
out - Try procedures for system including Packaging machine,
conveyor system, sugar feed system, and all auxiliary
equipment.Quality
--- - Visually inspect bags being produced on machine for proper
fold, sealing, weights, bag shape and overall product
appearance.
--- - Shutdown packaging lines if there is an unacceptable Quality
risk.Productivity
--- - Maintains housekeeping at packaging line to allow Line
Operators to concentrate efforts on running machine.
--- - Runs filling machine while Line Operators are on breaks or
attending meetings; to include starting and stopping machine,
replenishing packaging supplies, clearing product jams.
--- - Replenish packaging supplies as necessary for continuous
operation.
--- - Recognize and correct inefficiencies in the machine.
--- - Participate in the team effort to improve performance.
--- - Fill hoppers, change bags, fill glue containers, replaces ink
bottles or ribbons and keep all necessary feeders loaded.
--- - Ability to work overtime when needed.
--- - Must understand and be physically capable of following all of
the documented cleaning procedures for the machine where
assigned.Additional Responsibilities
--- Ability to work on rotating shifts.
--- Ability to work overtime when needed.

- Technical school or manufacturing certificationExperienceThe

- Minimum of three to six months of industrial experienceThe
following are the preferred qualifications:
- Six or more months of automated packaging
experienceKnowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical
demands)The following are the basic qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple
correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is
regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or
feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The associate is
occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl. The associate must regularly lift and /or move up
to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.The following are the preferred qualifications:
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.WORKING CONDITIONSEquipment Used
- Computerized Packaging equipment and metal detectorsWorking
Conditions
- While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is
regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne
particles. The associate is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid
conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical
shock. The associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious
places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is
