We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and Qualifications Functions as a Lactation Counselor/Consultant through MHUMC Lactation Services, a hospital based breastfeeding center. Provides education to and support for the patients who chose to breastfeed; and to those patients who do not chose to breastfeed but may have questions about breast care after delivery. Provides education for the hospital staff and the community. Serves as a resource for hospital staff and physicians; and outpatient consultations on a referral basis. Complies with the Memorial Health Compliance Program, related policies and procedures and the Code of Business Practices; reports instances of perceived and actual non-compliance to Team Leader or through other reporting mechanisms. INITIATIVE (INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION) Three decisions made / duties performed without review/approval by a supervisor or other reviewer. 1. Support/consult for breastfeeding inpatient. 2. Technical support to fellow team members regarding lactation support. 3. In-hospital consultations Three decisions on which consultation with, or approval from, a supervisor would be sought. 1. Changes in breastfeeding related supply and/or budget items. 2. Determine outreach activities to support breastfeeding in the region. 3. Contract with vendor to change products.
  What qualifications you will need:
  • Intl Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
