Job Description:
Overview
The Aircraft Mechanic I Electrician/Avionics position which
maintains repairs and modifies aircraft electrical and avionics
components of moderate difficulty, applies technical knowledge of
the airframe, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to
solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical
documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
Candidate must supply own common tools and toolbox.
Responsibilities
The Aircraft Mechanic I Electrician/Avionics Repairer will provide
Organizational-level maintenance on the MH-60 and MH-47 aircraft.
Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
--- Perform duties associated with support, troubleshooting, and
inspecting both the MH-60 and MH-47 aircraft to include aircraft
electrical system; avionics components and instruments; engine
control system and wiring; aircraft generators; aircraft flight
control systems.
--- Repairs, replaces, and apply modifications to aircraft as
required; Clean and treat corrosion of avionics components and
mounts; use aircraft model specific test equipment; bore sighting;
pitot static system testing and maintenance.
--- Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance
manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and
other specifications to determine feasibility and method of
repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
--- Disassembling and inspecting avionics/electrical parts for
wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or
replacing defective parts and reassembles.
--- Performs pre-phase, post-phase, MTF support along with
isochronal maintenance inspections.
--- Performs miscellaneous duties as required to avionics
equipment, load radios, perform operational checks of electrical
systems after repairs or replacement.
--- Enters in the maintenance records a description of all the work
performed, verifying the work was performed satisfactorily.
--- Specialize in work, repair, testing, troubleshooting and
modification of aircraft avionics and electrical systems on MH-47
and MH-60 aircraft.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of aviation experience performing the above
duties and responsibilities
This work requires well-rounded training and experience usually
acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and
experience.
Must have a combination of experience in electrical and avionics
maintenance repair on field-level work required to help the unit
meet it's assigned missions.
Experience working with BDR kits; AWIT's test kit a plus.
Experience on the H-60 and H-47 aircraft highly desired.
Skills:
Must be able to pass a written exam and practical qualification on
electrical soldering.
Must be proficient in the use of hand tools, gauges, and testing
equipment.
Must be able to become qualified on using hoist, ground power
units, crane, and all support vehicles.
Other Qualifications:
This position will require the ability to obtain and maintain a
secret government clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
