Job Description Pride Health is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist II for a 13-week travel contract opportunity in Charleston, SC . This role is ideal for a skilled histology professional with strong microtomy and special stains experience who thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Job Summary The Histotechnologist II performs routine and special histology procedures requiring technical expertise, sound judgment, and independent decision-making in accordance with established laboratory standards, policies, and procedures. This role supports the Surgical Pathology Laboratory and assists with both technical and select administrative functions while maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Key Responsibilities: Technical Procedures Perform routine and special histology procedures including microtomy, embedding, and special stains Verify specimen integrity and ensure proper patient identification Perform quality control activities to ensure accuracy and reliability of results Instrumentation & Equipment Operate histology laboratory instruments according to standard procedures Perform instrument quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting Document maintenance and quality activities accurately Information Handling & Documentation Utilize the Anatomical Pathology LIS/STAR system for test ordering, receipt, cancellation, and result verification Review pending worklists and follow up on outstanding cases Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, QC, and maintenance activities Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality policies Communication & Customer Service Communicate effectively with pathologists, supervisors, laboratory staff, physicians, nurses, and other departments Respond professionally to inquiries and provide accurate information Maintain positive working relationships with peers, leadership, and clinical staff Compliance & Safety Follow all laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations Identify and report safety concerns to supervisory staff Participate in mandatory education, continuing education, and performance improvement initiatives Support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs Requirements HT (ASCP) certification – required High School Diploma or equivalent Proven experience operating histology instrumentation Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time constraints IHC experience is a plus Additional Information: Location: Charleston, SC 29401 Shift: Monday–Friday | 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM Contract Length: 13 weeks Pay Range: $1900 - $2020/ weekly *Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
