Diagnostics Days: M- F Hours: Varies - M &W: 1 pm - 9 pm; T,
Th, F: 9 am - 5 pm Full-time: Benefit Eligible In this role, you
will: Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling.
Perform gross description and dissection of specimens received.
Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical
specimens, ensuring that all lesions, marking and sutures are
mentioned. Reviews clinical information provided to determine what
pathologic examination is pertinent. Examines the gross specimen
with knowledge of pathologic conditions that may be present and the
questions that must be answered. Dictate the finding in a clear,
complete, sufficient manner. Selects pertinent tissue samples for
slide preparation, providing photographs and/or diagrams of
specimen and dissection of specimen, prior to and/or after
dissection, when requested and/or indicated. Escalates non-routine,
complicated surgical specimens to a Grossing Tech II or Pathologist
Assistant, as needed. All you need is: Minimum training/education
required is an Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological
science or medical laboratory technology 1 year of experience in
grossing, preferred. Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not
limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers,
centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and
audible alarms Bonus points if you’ve got: 2 years of laboratory
