Job Description:
Job Description Summary The Supervisor of Central Receiving in
the clinical laboratory is responsible for overseeing and
optimizing all aspects of specimen intake and processing to ensure
accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory operations. This role
includes assisting with the recruiting, mentoring, and managing
staff while fostering a culture of accountability, precision, and
continuous improvement. The supervisor aids in the development and
enforcement of policies and procedures aligned with clinical
laboratory regulations, medical laws, and ethical standards, while
maintaining rigorous quality assurance and safety protocols.
Additionally, the supervisor promotes a learning-focused
environment that supports the education and professional
development of laboratory staff and healthcare practitioners,
ensuring the receiving area remains conducive to clinical teaching

Description Qualifications: Associate's Degree required Bachelor's
Degree preferred. Work Experience: At least 5 years of progressive
work experience in a Clinical Laboratory. Previous supervisory
experience preferred. State licensure and/or professional
certification through the ASCP BOC or equivalent, if not, must be
attained within one year of hire. Key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Staff Development : Recruit, mentor, and manage
departmental staff, fostering a culture of accountability,
continuous improvement, and professional growth. Address
performance issues constructively and implement corrective actions
as needed. Operational Excellence : Aid in the design and
implementation of effective policies and procedures that align with
healthcare regulations, medical laws, and ethical standards. Ensure
consistent adherence to quality assurance protocols. Collaborative
Engagement : Partner with cross-functional healthcare teams to
enhance patient flow, resolve customer service concerns, and
support integrated care delivery. Educational Environment : Ensure
ongoing professional development opportunities for care team
members. This role is pivotal in maintaining a high-functioning
central receiving department that supports both clinical excellence
and a positive patient experience. Additional Job Description
Education: Associate's Degree in a relevant medical or scientific
discipline required; bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: At
least five years of progressive work experience in a Clinical
Laboratory required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Certification: State licensure and/or professional certification
through the ASCP BOC or equivalent at time of hire or must be
