Job Description:
Job Description Summary Under moderate general supervision, will
design, execute, evaluate and communicate results of scientific
experiments, prepare figures, and participate in scholarly
publications. Also, manage and coordinate activities of a basic
science laboratory, develop and troubleshoot protocols, perform
complex molecular biology and cell biology assays, implement lab
safety protocols, guide and mentor students, and assist the PI with
generating preliminary data for grant submissions. Entity Medical

Description Minimum Requirements: PhD degree in chemistry, biology,
or other natural, life or health care science and 2-year work
experience directly related to the assigned research area Job
Duties: 30% - Develop own projects, under moderate guidance by the
PI. Plan, coordinate and communicate project goals, timelines and
budgeting. Organize, analyze data and present data in manuscript
figures, lab meetings and departmental seminars. Contribute to
scholarly publications. Advise the PI on own and all other projects
in the lab. Assist the PI in preparation of manuscripts, seminars
and by generating preliminary data for grant proposals. 20% -
Perform project-appropriate mouse colony maintenance, mouse tissue
biopsy and animal husbandry. Perform phenotypic examination at the
organ, tissue, and cellular levels. 20% - Examine and analyze
tissues from various organs for DNA, RNA, and/or protein markers.
Perform histology and subsequent immunofluorescence,
immunohistochemistry and related imaging of mouse tissues. 10% -
Perform standard cell/tissue culture and cell-based assays (cell
line maintenance and storage, transfection, etc). Perform and
develop protocols for standard and complex molecular biology
techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR). Assist with analyzing
of RNA sequencing data. Perform protein isolation from
cells/tissues, immunoprecipitation, and Western blotting. 10% -
Prepare solutions, reagents and glassware/equipment as necessary
for project(s) needs. Ensure recording of experimental results and
recording and maintenance of laboratory procedures, protocols and
databases. Troubleshoot protocols and experimental procedures and
advise the PI and other lab members on this and on different
projects in the lab. 5% - Train and supervise students, volunteers
and trainees in the proper application of techniques, protocols,
equipment handling, and safety procedures in the lab. Supervise
enforcement of chemical and biological laboratory safety procedures
and handling of hazardous materials by all members in the lab. 5% -
Maintain inventory of lab supplies, perform ordering of supplies
and monitor budget and spending. Additional Job Description

objects, up to 30 lbs., from height of 72 inches to floor level,
unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to 50 lbs.,
unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30
lbs. a distance of five (5) floors and to outlying buildings.
(Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.

qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use,
initially and annually. Ability to work alone in isolated areas,

to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy.
Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work
